good at video games

This strip marks the end of chapter 6!

In which Roomie suddenly was good at video games and was never spoken of again :D

Let's be absolutely honest here, Roomie was a character that started off heavily inspired by parts of my own life, it's no secret. And back then, I was... proud. And felt appreciated and admired. And pretty sure of myself.

And so I wanted to show readers that Roomie was good at many things, singing, video games, being happy, and was someone that everyone loved, and admired, was pretty confident in herself, etc etc.

It was a bit of an ego trip.

And I could feel it wasn't fulfilling, almost immediately I could tell that a character with hardly any flaws wouldn't hold out very long in an ongoing comic. Because then what's the point of having them as a main character? How do they grow? Where are they headed, if they're already close to the finish line? Are they really just there for secondary characters to swoon over? Won't that become repetitive very quickly? And a bit pointless?

And is she really 100% happy? Does she really have zero flaws? No ego at all? A perfect being transcended from the start?

The answer was obvious the more the comic went. And the more I grew as a person. (who, spoilers, was not a perfect being from the start!)

--> This is a rerun of the finished webcomic Go Get a Roomie! You can find these two strips in the old archive >here<!
