This scene was written to appear more "real" than demonizing. Looking back, I wish I had made it clearer as to what had happened between Lillian and Matt, give a little more context.

But at the same time, the vagueness of it adds an interesting touch, an uncomfortable one. What happened exactly and who do we judge and what for? We don't really know, so maybe this scene wasn't made to judge.

The question is, do we trust Roomie's and Lillian's words? And even Matt's words, or his desire to understand what he did wrong exactly, in a seemingly honest way? 

Like the title of the chapter implies, we're asked to be "the Observer", rather than the Judge.
