The first strip I think I got some shit for, but never really knew how much because I didn't read the comments :p (it's only thanks to a fan I met a few days later that I knew there were some reactions)

From what that person told me, it was mostly because of WOC being into spiritual/esoteric stuff and some people reacted strongly against that idea because it felt like a cliché: because she's a Native American she's automatically into esoteric beliefs.

For me it was obvious that it didn't come from her Native America background, and WOC talks about it a little in a future chapter, how she had cut ties at one point in her life with parts of her culture and family, and how it was Alice who brought an interest to well-being and spirituality back into her life. But that's not supposed to be known until later on.

Also, what WOC is talking about doesn't have a lot to do with any Native American spiritual practice of any kind, although Native American spirituality can be seen as animistic (believing everything has a spirit), words like "fairies" and "gnomes" are found more in the irish folklore than anywhere else, so it was never supposed to be linked to her ancestry.

But maybe the shit that the first strip was for was because of something else. Probably, very mostly probably, I'm 99,99% sure....    because Ramona didn't summon a dragon here and there >:U

fuckin' great job clover
